While it isn't going to play whole Hd 1080p video it can deal with 720p High definition video clip. For smoother success its ideal if you stick to 480p and other down below 720p resolution movies however. Controls are rather responsive, although the 3rd-social gathering keyboard software could use a very little do the job. Even though the screen is superior sufficient with fingertips, it is certainly extra precise to use a stylus. The downsides of the Surface are in the eye of the beholder. Battery life is stated to be somewhere about 4 hours, maybe less. This rivals laptops, not tablets. Tablets offer about 8-10 hours of battery life. Is this compromise a deal breaker in education? The Surface is a bit heavier than the usual tablet, but not more so than a laptop/netbook. It seems like the weight issue could be more of a red herring than a genuine limitation. Surely lighter is preferable, but realistically the device weight is far from burdensome. One small problem that caught my attention that led to power the laptop blink softly when the laptop is in sleep mode. Usually there is no problem with it, but the various blue LED on the laptop a little alert. You will not find at all during the day, but for those of you who keep your laptop in sleep mode during the night will suddenly see the blue glow in their room fading in and out. It can quickly be determined by just the thing on the cover as a book, but it is annoying a little less detail. The Pros. The XT3 comes with a case constructed of very heavy duty plastic with reinforced magnesium alloy corners. If you try to twist and bend the XT3 you would hardly notice any flex compared to other Dell laptops without the reinforced magnesium alloy corners. And one of my favorite features is the spill resistant keyboard. There seems to be reinforced rubber gaskets that will protect the electronics underneath the keyboard. The XT3 has a Tri-metalâ„¢ design which is defense-grade standard (MIL_STD-810G). In addition, Dell rates the battery life of the 6-cell as an all-day battery capacity which translates to about 8 hours. My experience is that a fully charged battery will last you about two hours on average and a mere 1 hour and 45 minutes after the first few recharges. Compared to any other laptop this is pathetic and it also makes it the single largest downside of this laptop Some people I know draw on their laptop for hours on end and having it plugged in to a power socket all the time isn't nice for mobility. That wouldn't be a problem except that you have to sacrifice your DVD rewriter for it.
